Time is money, and this is especially true when traveling through the world’s busiest urban centers, from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. Since setting its first distance record in 1924, the helicopter has proven its exceptional value thanks to its durability and versatility. In the world of private aviation, helicopters have become increasingly essential for transporting busy leaders quickly and efficiently.
Today, helicopters are not only becoming more advanced with higher speeds and longer range, but the most notable evolution lies in their luxurious interiors. Airbus Corporate Helicopters partnered with Aston Martin to create a signature cabin for the ACH130, while aviation service company Flexjet paid tribute to Bentley Mulliner in a special edition of the Sikorsky S-76. Even the latest Marine One helicopter used to transport the President of the United States is a custom Sikorsky VH-92A equipped with enhanced security features and an opulent interior.
The following list highlights seven of the most expensive helicopters in the world, showcasing their design, technological advantages, and passenger amenities that rival those of many light private jets.
1. Airbus ACH160
Estimated Price: From USD 15 million (VND 395.7 billion)
The twin-engine ACH160 offers the full package: speed, agility, and comfort. With a range of 460 nautical miles and a maximum cruise speed of 178 mph, this 10-seat helicopter incorporates 68 patents, featuring Airbus’s signature shrouded tail rotor (Fenestron) to reduce noise and vibration. A sound-insulated passenger cabin and large double-glazed windows further minimize noise, creating a quieter working environment. The interior can be customized with leather seats or lounge-style benches, along with multiple finish and storage options.
2. Leonardo AW609 Tiltrotor
Estimated Price: From 20 million USD (527,600,000,000 VND)
The Leonardo AW609 offers the advantage of vertical takeoff and landing, combined with the speed and range of a turboprop aircraft. This unique hybrid model reaches a maximum speed of 310 mph and can cruise at an altitude of 25,000 feet inside a pressurized cabin with a height of 1.5 meters, accommodating up to 8 passengers in premium seating. The cabin can be configured with a refreshment console and lavatory. The cockpit is equipped with a fully digital fly-by-wire control system and a synthetic vision display.
3. Sikorsky S-92 Executive – A flagship choice trusted by world leaders.
Selected by heads of state from 10 countries — including the latest Marine One serving the President of the United States — the Sikorsky S-92 Executive features the largest passenger cabin in its class. It accommodates up to 10 passengers with full stand-up headroom, 14 oversized windows, a private lavatory, swiveling captain’s chairs, optional bulletproof armor, and enhanced soundproofing. With a maximum cruise speed of 280 km/h and a range of 880 km, the S-92 can operate comfortably at altitudes of up to 15,000 feet.
4. Airbus ACH175
Estimated Price: From 20 million USD (527,600,000,000 VND)
The Airbus ACH175 is a fusion of safety, performance, and exceptional passenger experience. It offers a maximum cruising speed of 280 km/h, a range of 986 km, and an impressive continuous flight time of up to 6 hours and 3 minutes. Even more remarkable is its ability to carry up to 12 passengers. The spacious cabin allows for three customizable interior configurations, featuring reclining leather seats, a mini bar, a coffee machine, a modern entertainment system, and advanced air conditioning.
5. Bell 525 Relentless
Estimated Price: From 20 million USD (527,600,000,000 VND)
The Bell 525, aptly named “Relentless,” combines luxurious amenities for business travel with cutting-edge cockpit technology, including a full fly-by-wire system and a Garmin G5000H touchscreen glass cockpit. This helicopter can carry up to 16 passengers, offering a maximum cruising speed of 296 km/h and a range of 1,012 km. Inside the cabin, the Bell 525 features a lounge-style seating area equipped with premium entertainment, wireless connectivity, and electrochromic windows controlled via smartphone. A limousine-style privacy partition allows VIP passengers to hold confidential conversations without the need for headsets.
6. Leonardo AW189
Estimated Price: From USD 17 million (≈ 448,460,000,000 VND)
Leonardo’s Augusta AW189 five-blade helicopter strikes a perfect balance between performance and comfort. It can carry up to 14 passengers with a maximum range of 815 km and a cruise speed of 292 km/h. Large windows and premium leather seating, combined with an onboard entertainment system and wireless connectivity, create a comfortable working environment. An integrated auxiliary power unit allows cabin air conditioning to operate before takeoff without starting the main rotors.
7. ACH130 Aston Martin Edition (Aston Martin Version)
Estimated Price: From 6 million USD (158,280,000,000 VND)
This may not be the most expensive helicopter on the list, but its James Bond–inspired interior takes it to another level. The design draws inspiration from the Aston Martin DB11 supercar, featuring premium leather and ultra-soft Alcantara on the seats and doors. The backs of the front seats showcase the same intricate perforated detailing found on the DB11.
The ACH130’s performance is equally worthy of Agent 007: a maximum cruising speed of 134 knots, a range of 558 km, and a maximum flight time of 4 hours and 13 minutes. The first production batch sold out rapidly, proving the irresistible appeal of this special edition.
